This coffee is 100% Caturra, which is a variety well known in Colombian specialty coffee but this originated in Minas Gerais, Brazil. It is a natural mutation of Red Bourbon that produces higher yields, but is also more disease resistant than red bourbon. Caturra is thus an excellent choice for sustainably managing a specialty coffee production and to guarantee a good crop yield regardless of oncoming climate change effects.
In the agroforestry environment of this micro lot we have purchased, we find annual rainfall of around 1700-2000ml during a harvest cycle, and temperatures of around 15-27 degrees Celsius, making it very calm and low risk for processing and drying techniques involving dry fermentation. This coffee arrives with us in 35kg humectant sealed sacks for safe transport and no loss of cup quality during the green coffee’s storage in a warehouse or the roastery facility.
