The Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) Barista Skills Foundation level focuses on the key skills required to set up and maintain an espresso grinder. You also learn the modern standards of making espresso and high quality milk foam at correct serving temperatures. We teach you how to texture milk for drinks in the modern espresso menu, including the flat white, the caffe latte and the cappuccino.
This course allows you to gain an introductory understanding of coffee itself as an ingredient, and the course will set a foundation from which to practice perfectly in the key motor skills with espresso and milk (including the principles of how to learn latte art). We will also teach proper health and safety practices with coffee equipment and the basics of coffee shop customer service.
Timings: 10.00-18.00 including a lunch break. 7 hours of teaching per day. We highly recommend combining this in-person learning with distance learning of modern coffee theory. This would be: the SCA's recommended reading for the course, and the Barista One content from the training website Barista Hustle.
