This coffee is part of the Agri Evolve movement in Uganda, operating state of the art wet and dry processing facilities with quality control laboratories and in-region support all year. They have introduced water sanitation for local farmers, micro-financing opportunities and seedling distribution for growing new varieties and diversifying farms’ output to mean more sustainable long term production.
We have purchased a shade grown variety blend of SL14, SL28 and SL34 coffee varieties. Each is naturally processed, and all contributing coffee cherries were grown within the Rwenzori Mountains and subsequently dried at the Nyabirongo processing station. Shade trees contribute to higher fruit sweetness in this lot, where slower maturing cherries typically produce higher levels of acidity and sugars per cherry. We noted a huge strawberry sweetness alongside a syrupy, jammy texture. We hope you love it too!
